How to install and activate an eSIM on Android

Most recent Android smartphones (Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, etc.) are eSIM compatible. If you've just received an activation QR code from your carrier, here's how to install it in a snap.

Preparation

Before starting the installation, make sure of these two essential points:

1. Your phone is connected to Wi-Fi. The eSIM is activated online, so an internet connection is required.
2. You have your activation code. It is usually a QR Code or a long numeric code provided by your operator via email.

(THE Menu names may vary slightly depending on your phone brand (Samsung, Google, Xiaomi…), but the The general procedure remains the same (on the latest versions of Android.)

Step 1: Access network settings

1. Open the application Settings Or Settings (the gear icon).
2. Press Connections Or Network and Internet.
3. Search and select SIM card manager Or SIM cards.

Step 2: Add the mobile plan

You're almost there!

1. Press Add a mobile plan Or Add an eSIM.
2. The system will likely ask if you want to "Download a SIM card instead". Confirm.
3. Your phone will open the camera and prompt you to scan the operator's QR code OR import from a photo.

💡 Tip: If you already have a physical SIM card, the phone may ask you what type of line it is (primary, secondary).

Step 3: Confirm and activate

1. Take a picture of the QR Code.
2. The system will read it and display your operator's information.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions and press Add Or Enable.

Once the process is complete, your phone will download the eSIM profile. After a few seconds, your carrier's name should appear in the notification bar! Your new line is now active.

If activation doesn't work, don't panic!

• Check if the operator has provided a manual activation code. If so, there is often a link to "Enter an activation code" in the same menu.
• Restart your phone after entering the code.
• Call your service provider to check if the eSIM has been activated correctly on their end.
